For those who are already watching leading animes such as One Piece and Fairy Tail, here is another list of other famous animes which you may not be aware of and will bound to add on to more sleepless nights.
Dragon Ball Super
One of the all time best seller of it’s manga has return in the form of an anime, the Dragon Ball series is practically the granddaddy of all manga. In the anime series it started off with “Dragon Ball” and then “Dragon Ball Z” (when main story character Son Goku transited into his adulthood stage)
There have been plenty of adaptations after the manga series ended, most notably the Dragon Ball GT plot, where the greatest progress was Goku’s transformation into Super Saiyan 4. However it wasn’t recognised by some fans as an official extension until the release of Dragon Ball z: Battle of Gods, as well as the latest series Dragon Ball Super (which incorporates the Battle of Gods story).
The anime series plot starts venturing into the realms of godhood. Your manga series’ biggest bosses of Freeza, Cell and Buu are like kids when compared against the God of Destruction Beerus. By the way, he is ONLY one of the twelve universes’ God of Destructions. Hack, even Beerus’ attendant Whis, being his martial arts teacher is even stronger than the god himself).
Is this better than the Dragon Ball GT series? I would say hell yea…
Fullmetal Alchemist / Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
One of the best manga ever in anime, the story is catered around the world akin to European Industrial period where people with the skills to use scientific techniques called alchemical transmutation are referred as Alchemist (somewhat like magic if the settings is in mythical world).
Fullmetal Alchemist is a touching story of how Elric brothers, the core story characters, had to recover their bodies after a failed attempt to revive their mother using forbidden alchemy. The basic law of alchemy goes like this: to gain something you need to sacrifice something of the same value. With that, as their attempt went awry, Edward Elric (the older brother) lost his arm and leg, while Alphonse lost his whole body (and was confine to an armour suit).
Their eventual aim, would be to obtain the mythical Philosopher’s Stone to recover back their bodies. As the story went progresses, viewers will get to know in-depth of the relationships between all the characters as well as the hidden background and shocking twist to the plot.
Fullmetal Alchemist first half of the storyline takes after the manga series, but however differs off later on. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the second adaptation follows more closely with the manga plot.
All in all, both offers fantastic storyline and actions to be watched.
The story evolves around our human world together with the Demon world, which is controlled by the Seven Deadly Sins (a group of seven powerful demons). It was then unified under the Great Demon Lord Beelzebub III, who then send his infant son Beelzebub (aka Baby Beel) to the human world to destroy humanity. That was when he became the adoptive son of human teenage delinquent Tatumi Oga.
The storyline and characters are hilarious and excellently balanced. Prevy Furuichi, cry baby En, forgetful Great Demon Lord, are just some of the funny characters which are masterfully placed in the manga. Mixing your usual mythical demons in our human world with wit and charm is a sure way of getting viewership.
If you want something that will tickle you, this is it.
Many may not know, but Hiro Mashima, the writer of Rave Master, is also publisher of the highly popular Fairy Tail. Somewhat like Fairy Tail, Rave Master is base on a world with magic, Rave Stones and dark Stones which determine the outcome of good vs evil.
The main protagonist is led by Haru Glory as well as the now famous Plue, a strange looking dog that resembles a shivering snowman with a carrot nose. Various clans such as Oracion six and Raregroove Kingdom, Rave Masters as well as Knights of the Blue Sky seems to have been a prelude to how the writer Hiro Mashima is able to perfect that in Fairy Tail.
Although both Fairy Tail and Rave Master are manga which magic rules, they differ slightly in the part where Dragons play an important part of the Fairy Tail whereas swords and stones is the leading plot for Rave Master.
One Punch Man
One Punch Man is one of the most unusual type of manga, in the sense that the main protagonist seems to be more like the final level 99 boss. It tells of the bald character Saitama, who had to join the Heroes Association just to pay off his monthly bills. Not only that, due to the fact that he is bald, he is the most unlikely of heros and citizens just won’t recognize him as he just don’t look the part.
BUT……he is the strongest in the entire series of manga and anime so far. Kiss goodbye to the story plots where main characters need to train and level up to fight bosses and enemies (think Dragon Ball’s Goku and One Piece’s Luffy), Saitama’s single punch can wipe any enemy (or hordes of enemies) clean. Even inter-galactic monsters who can punch him onto the moon (yes, our moon), wasn’t able to take a fully focus punch from our One-Punch Man.
Very, very, very different from your usual story plots, and thus, give this anime a try, you will love it.
