If you have never played any of the version before, you don’t know what you are missing. And you are most probably not a decent gamer too. Final Fantasy is the initial representative of Japanese RPG onto foreign shores.
They have so much success that they are already coming into the 15 title series. Excluding many others FF titles across various gaming platform. Below we look at five of it’s top series in the gigantic line of Final Fantasy franchise.
#5 Final Fantasy VII – Inching every bit of PS’ processing power
Groundbreaking graphics then as the Final Fantasy world transit into the 3D space. Again, Square Enix team of talented designers wonderfully crafted the storyline as well as the iconic characters of Cloud and villain Sephiroth.
How grand is the scale of this game? In comparison, most PSOne games usually come in 1 or maximum 2 CDs. Final Fantasy VII comes in four. Enough said. Another first time ever event? The death of the beloved main character Aeris. Never before, pure epic.
#4 Final Fantasy XII – A brand new battle system
The first for seamless battles without the need to change screens makes exploration of the world of Ivalice a much better world than any series before. Also, another new add-on is called the gambit system for fights. It’s like a programming system for your characters on how they should react when met with various scenarios. Think Artificial Intelligence.
Can’t wait to try it out? Hold on your horses while it gets a remastered makeover that should be out in 2017.
#3 Final Fantasy X & X-II – Another stunning game for another stunning platform
Another fantastic upgrade of hardware for Playstation 2’s earliest FF series, X is another classic FF to be reckon. It is also one of the first Final Fantasy game to have a direct sequel which doesn’t disappoint as well. The way the game has it’s own sports in Blitzball is another ingenious way of adding more depth into the already highly packed game.
Want the best graphics for this series? Check out Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster and relive the Tidus and Yuna moments in one of the best FF game ever.
#2 Final Fantasy IV – The start to global fame
The first true Final Fantasy that reached the west and made the series a global hit. The image of Paladins, Dragoons and mages have been stuck with us ever since then. It also kick-started the way gamers are able to explore the surface world, underground world as well as the moon via airships.
It’s so classic that there were even two sequels to the original game, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (where initial game protagonist Cecil’s son become the main character) as well as Final Fantasy IV: Interlude (storyline between the other 2). Oh yah, remember Chocobo?
#1 Final Fantasy VI – An epic end to the SNES era
The most perfect Final Fantasy in my eyes. From its epic story plot to its massive cast of unique characters so much so that it’s villain Kefka can easily go into any list of top badass final game boss. How each and every character’s special moves is planned out is fabulous and deeply engage it’s gamers.
When i thought IV was great, VI totally blew that out of the windows in both depth and span. The last great 2D Final Fantasy title is in fact the best ever.
