The Asgardian prince of lies powerful magical skills rival to any of the greatest sorcerer in all of Asgard. Including shapeshifting, energy blast, astral projection and teleportation. In fact, Loki has even discovered a method to cheat death. With it, he can be continuously reincarnated upon “death”.
He may not really be your most powerful physical villain, but his cunning-ness, magic and intellect, can make him one of the most threatening.
4 – Ultron
A creation of scientific genius Dr. Henry Pym (aka Ant man / Giant-Man / Goliath). Born as an artificial intelligence, Ultron quickly set about his evolution straight from birth.
With a body using Adamantium (yes, the same of X-Men’s Wolverine’s claws), Ultron possesses the ability of mind-control, brainwashing, as well as weapons including concussion blasters and radiation emitters. The android also have superhuman durability and strength, and having the power to fly.
As Ultron can continuously improve himself, the later versions allow him to to have tractor beams and energy absorption capabilities. One model even had himself a hive-mind technology which allows him to control hundreds of Ultron bodies at the same time.
Ultron’s impact is so profound, that the recent Age of Ultron comic series had him damaging time itself.
3 – Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is daughter to the infamous Magneto and sister of Quicksilver.
It may be slightly surprising to put her in this list as she has always been known on the heroes side. However, during the Avengers Disassembled story arc, the Scarlet Witch had been driven insane by the loss of her children years earlier, and continued use of her powers has driven her increasingly closer to insanity. This insanity had her believing that the Avengers had robbed her of her children and sought to do so again. With this belief, she went on to instigate various attacks on the Avengers, causing losses of lives in the team.
Placing her this high in the list also means one thing, she is powerful, very powerful. And her power comes in the form of mystic energy that can alter reality.
As demonstrated during the House of M series, with a “No more mutants” words, her Chaos magic caused 99% of the mutant population to lose their powers.
2 – Korvac
Korvac who?? Michael Korvac was born in the 31st century and happen to be a highly skilled computer technician. Korvac true powers came when he was able to gain more power and abilities from his scan and analysis of the Elder of the Universe the Grandmaster. His own perfection came when he came across the space station of Galactus and while attempting the download the knowledge of Galactus, Korvac was imbued with the Power Cosmic.
The Power Cosmic practically allows him to create any effect he desires, even to the point of creating life and resurrection. His power level made him level with cosmic beings such as Odin and Galactus.
During the Korvac Saga, he killed most of the Avengers. Only due to the hesitation and doubts of his beloved Carnia and the lack of moral support did he allow himself to be killed in battle.
1 – Thanos
Thanos is peharps the most famous Avengers villiain of them all.
Born of the Eternals (evolutionary offshoot of humanity which possesses greater powers and longer lifespans than the normal human race), with subjection to the Deviant gene made Thanos a ‘mutant’ of Titan. He grew up to become the most powerful of his Titan race. Under Mistress Death’s tutelage he grew even stronger and more powerful, well versed in the black arts which had long been forbidden on Titan.
Thanos has superhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, and agility. His skin allowed the Titan to not only absorb cosmic energy but also could then manipulate it into kinetic force by conscious choice. In addition, Thanos is nearly invulnerable, particularly against heat, cold, electricity, radiation, toxins, aging, and disease, and he can survive indefinitely without food or water.
His mind is also protected against most forms of psychic attack, and the Titan can even project psionic blast of energy as well as blasts of plasma/cosmic energy from his eyes and hands. Besides his physical powers, Thanos is also widely known as a master strategist, adept in sciences far beyond Earth technology and even mystical knowledge.
The way he has been able to construct the Infinity Gauntlet and took on the entire marvel universe (yes, entire) speaks greatly about his ability.
